She has had to find herself a part time job as a waitress.

a shift - a period of work in the day or night e.g. nurse, factory workers etc.
a day off - a day not working
tips - extra money given by customers for waiters, taxi drivers etc
to earn money - to get money from work
a uniform - the clothes worn by a group of workers e.g. policemen, firemen, nurses etc
colleagues - people who you work with
graduate - someone who has just finished university
CV - Curriculum Vitae (resume) your details of qualifications and experience
salespeople - people who sell things
full training given - someone will teach you how to do the job
contract - the paper you sign when you start the job
full time / part time - working all week or just some of the week
au pair - looks after children
chef - a cook
experience required - you must have done the job before
secretary - admin office worker
receptionist - answers the phone
barber - a men's hairdresser
applicants - someone who applies for a job
interview - talk to the future employer
ambitious - wants to have a better job in the future
waiting staff - work in a restaurant and bring you your food

Talking about obligations

When we talk about obligation we use have to, don't have to or do you have to...?
"I have to do 6 shifts a week."
"Do you have to work long hours?"
"I don't have to work every weekend."

When we want to give advice we use should (must is very strong).
"You should wear comfortable shoes."
